Besa Wage Agreement

The social benefits that will come into force from 3 October 2016 are in phase 1 in the 2016-2020 biphasic four-year operational wage agreement: employers request for the application, interpretation or implementation of the agreement to each member of the BESA Employment and Qualifications team, e-mail: employmentaffairs@thebesa.com; or by telephone one of the department`s staff relations advisors. It provides for employers to pay tax-free travel and accommodation for workers in agreement with HMRC, without the administrative complications normally associated with this practice. Welplan is the preferred provider for the provision of social benefits. He added that it was imperative that all parties to the agreement continue to work in a concluded manner „to protect businesses and the health and well-being of our individuals and their families.“ As such, BESA publishes standard rates of pay for location operations per hour, negotiated on behalf of the employer with the Unite union, and employee salaries negotiated with the EESA Staff Association (a Unite department). The Construction Engineering Services Association (BESA) and the Unite union have agreed on a transitional solution to cover the wages paid to workers in the construction sector during the COVID 19 closure period. The Building Engineering Services Association (BESA), which represents employers in the sector, has agreed with the Unite union on a rate increase of 2.5% per hour from October 2018, followed by a further increase of 2.75% from October 2019. Work rules, wages, conditions for employees in the sector are included in the national agreement which is jointly managed by the union, Unite (on behalf of the operational staff) and BESA (on behalf of employers). This national agreement is at the heart of workers` relations in the sector`s H-V contracting sector and is mainly used by companies involved in industrial and industrial screws and pipelines.
